TIME HAS LAID ITS ATTIRE ASIDE
Fashion from Manuscripts of the 11th - 16th Centuries

27th November 2008 – 1st March 2009
 




 

Through unique illuminations from the National Library collections of manuscripts, the exhibition shows the lifestyle of the medieval society and how clothing developed and varied in individual social classes, from the ruler through the citizens to people at the fringe of the society.

The exhibition is completed with replicas of period costumes, thanks to the Barrandov Studio, the partner of the project.

RUSSIAN INSPIRATIONS IN THE WORK OF MICHAEL ROMBERG

28th November 2008 - 16th January 2009

The exhibition is organised by the Slavonic Library and the Czech Association of Russists with the kind support of the Ministry of Culture of the CR. Authors of the exhibition are Anastasia Kopřivová and Jiří Klapka.

PRAGUE THE SCULPTUROUS, MYSTERIOUS

The exhibition, held under the auspices of Prague Mayor Pavel Bém and Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Austria Pavel Koukal, is organised by the National Library of the Czech Republic in association with the Art-Kolegium Association, with kind support of the Sprcha marketing Agency.

The exhibition shows the specific mysterious uniqueness of the City of Prague that used to be the centre of Europe in the period of Rudolph II. Authors were inspired by stories from Czech, and mainly Prague history.

THE LIFE AND PERIOD OF WRITER KAREL ČAPEK
6th November 2008 – 16th January 2009

The exhibition is organised by the National Library of the CR in association with the Memorial of Karel Čapek in Stará Huť near Dobříš.
 It commemmorates important anniversaries of the Czech Republic in 2008, the establishment and the end of Czechoslovakia,
and life anniversaries of eminent personalities of culture of the 20th century - Karel Čapek, Ferdinand Peroutka, and Olga Scheinpflugová.

The exhibition is organised by the Slavonic Library and the Polish Institute in Prague. Its authors are Tereza Svobodová and Hana Opleštilová.

The exhibition presents repeated efforts to get a new building for the National Library, which can be traced from as early as the mid-19th century.
