Oct. 19 - Nov. 10 Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) in the Collections of the Music Department. The exhibition was prepared by the Music Departement of the NL on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the composer´s death.
Oct. 25 - Nov. 5 The book donation by the YMCA-Press Publishing House in Paris and the Russian Public Fund of A. Solzhenitsyn. The exhibition took place on the occasion of the donation ceremony, during which publications were handed to the Slavonic Library collections.
November 1 The press conference presenting common projects of the NL of the CR and the Československá obchodní banka, i.e. the exhibition Under the Torch of the Modern Era, a representative publication and a CD-ROM published on the occasion of this exhibition; a representative publication Persian Manuscripts in the National Library of the Czech Republic and the CD-ROM with the catalogue of the Persian manuscripts.
November 1-30 Under the Torch of the Modern Era. The First Two Centuries of Book-Printing in Bohemia. The exhibition presented unique works from the collections of the Department of the Manuscripts and Early Printed Books, which give the evidence of basic influence of the book-printing on the development of the human society. It took place within the framework of the project Prague - European City of Culture for the year 2000 in cooperation with C. H. Expo.
November 8 The Russian (Volunteer) Army. Its History and Significance. The colloquium
Nov. 8 - Dec. 1 Literature on the Russian Volunteer Army from the collections of the former Russian Historical Archive Abroad in Prague. The exhibition prepared by the Slavonic Library.
Nov. 16, 2000 - Jan. 10, 2001 The Ideas for the Future. The presentation of a collection of books from the exhibition ´Zukunft erlesen´ from the Book Fair in Frankfurt, donated to the collections of the NL of the CR. It was held in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut in Prague.
December 11 The presentation ceremony on the occasion of publishing the book about Edvard Beneš by Karel Čapek, held in cooperation with the Society of Edvard Beneš and the Society of the Čapek Brothers

 

During the year 2000, the following activities took place: a course of seminars called Public Information Services in Libraries intended for City Mayors and librarians of the CR regions (19 lectures), a course of seminars on Interlibrary Services for librarians from the CR (10 lectures), and AACR2R/UNIMARC course for librarians (4 lectures).

Since March till the end of the year, forty sightseeing tours were organized by the Public Relations Dpt. free of charge for total of 560 members of the NL staff and their collegues from other libraries to show them round the newly opened historical rooms of Klementinum.
